hi, probably a dumbass question but i am looking for a feature on mitel where management can listen into calls discreetly... i have no idea what the Canadians call it and how would i set this up (cos etc)?

thanks all

Silent Monitor

Enable ability to be monitored in Sets COS and Ability to Monitor in the one doing the listening.

Activated by feature access code

I think the COS also has a value where you can remove notification. I say that based on your "discreetly" comment. Please be aware however of the legal issues with recording parties without their knowledge. Think here its one party needs to know they could be monitored or its a big bucks law suit.

ACD Silent monitor accept Y/N
ACD Silent monitor allowed Y/N
ACD Silent monitor notification Y/N

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

thanks guys, guess it was a relevant one after all, i have advised our boss of legal mambo.

Listening is not recording. (no legal issues against listening). If it is a business phone, there is no assumption of privacy. Same as applies to anything else in the workplace.

Legal issues on recording only arise if said recording is used in a legal setting.

(Not a lawyer, but have asked these questions of a lawyer)

What?? LoopyLou and kwbMitel responding to a post with no system type or release version? A definite sign of the end of days. LOL. :)

As it turns out I started to but realised the 200 and 3300 are basically the same these days.

If it's a 5000 or some other, too bad so sad.

It does get tiring asking all the time.

It would be safest to check with the local legal requirements becuase every area might be different. kwbMitel is correct its always been recording of calls now that I think of it.

thanks guys, appreciate it, i think the user wants to have the feature for training and quality purposes, but to end this off the right way.....
