We have an Avaya IP office 500. Both listen in and record functions worked previously but now, here's what they do.

listen in: sometimes works the first time, but then once you listen in it will disconnect the call between the employee and the end user. It appears though that both sides are still live, but you cant hear anything.

Record: Doesn't work at all. It will do the same as above, disconnect the call but it appears to still be there.

Any ideas? No major programming changes. Just basic stuff, adding phones, setting up buttons, etc.

Enough voicemail channels?
Enough conference recources?
Use system status to see if there are any congestions.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Lots of occurences for conference channels are all in use. How do I fix? Can I remove some extensions/users that arnt being used to free some channels up?

The only time they are used is when somebody activates the feature, so too many people are doing it at once, deleting unused extns and uses will not make any difference :)

Is there a way to manually kill the conference channel? Outside of a reboot?

What software version are you on?
How many vm channels do you have?
How many users do record calls?

Managing who can and can't do this is the only way to sort this without cutting people off manually which is not a sensible way to do it :)

When there are no channels then it is not recorded.
But it can be a buggy version :)

I have ~66 phones, almost all have a record option.
Only actively using 25-30 phones.
6.1 (12)
4 vm channels
64 conference channels

maybe 15 phones have listen in option, only 3-4 use it.

Im not an idiot. Only 1-2 people record at a time.

My system shows 63 of 64 conference channels in use, and I guarantee maybe 1 or 2 people have tried listen in or record feature in the past hour. It seems as if something is using up my conference channels and keeping that channel locked ?

Upgrade your ipoffice.
You are on a not very good version.
Go to 5.0.26, it is the last free version at the moment.

Ah, I didnt know they released a new one. I was looking online a month too soon. Thanks, I appreciate that.
I will. I also saw in looking online some trouble with 3rd part application using tapi to make calls can lock up conference channels, and the only way to clear those seemed to be a reboot.

since 4.1(12)? Nearly three years ago.

Makes the "i'm not an idiot" statement pretty bold, I hope you're then end user and not the BP.

I saw issues with conference resources not being released on 4.1, get it upgraded but make sure you check the changes made between 4.1 and 5.

fo shizzle ma nizzle.

Also an upgrade to 5.0 will give you a total of 128 conference channels. (2*64)
