All,
when tracing an incoming call, what exactly does the "NO-CPName" mean? is it that the telco didnt send a name, or is it that my PBX will not display the incoming name?

11:42:59 Calling Number & Name 2121234567 NO-CPName


reason being, is that i have a client that would like to see the incoming name if one is being sent.
 
is there anything that i need to have my telco do on my incoming T-1's to allow name? because the call example is from me calling another PBX & i know i send out NY with my number
 
I believe the protocol for name and number is NI2. I have always had to specify NI1 or NI2 when ordering. Typically, I just use NI1 which is number only. If you have the order sheet from you telco provider, it should be detailed there.

I believe you must be on PRI for this to occur, then yes, the carrier should pass this info. But remember, this has to be end-to-end, i.e. - PRI on both ends and passing through.
 
It has something to do with the type of ISDN protocol you're using. One sends name and number, the other just sends number.

Which type are you using?
 
The telco is set for Nortel custom & my DS1 board it A, i am in the process of changing it to B
 
Where is the document that explains the events that can occur on an ISDN line? I know I have seen this before but can't seem to find the doc that explains the events. All I was able to find was IP events.

just got done swapping PBX protocol, same thing, no name :(
 
Your protocol needs to match the protocol that your carrier is using. I think you're lucky your span didn't drop.
 
it did, but it's ok, i have over flow. either ds1 protocol, A or B didnt work. the carrier has to be 1 of them
 
If changing the protcal to C did not work I know if the phone company sets up a PRI with NI2 and you set protocal with B then it should work fine.
 
well thats what i did before but it didnt work, i was gonna set it to c
 
You have to set it to match with your carrier EXACTLY. Work with your carrier to understand what specific type of Central Office switch they're using and what the options are for name and number. Their switch may not support the delivery of name, just number.

You'll never get the name to show up if they're not delivering it. Go back to what 84Mike stated, maybe they're not delivering it.
 
ok, turns out that i do not have the caller name feature turned on by the carrier. i will have them turn it on & test it
 
The only protocal that will send name is NI2. Alot of the time even though you are coming from a Nortel switch they may emulate AT&T Custom and you can not get name on that. You will need to set up a cut time with your provider and change both sides at the same time.
