Is there a list some where of IP addresses of Known Spammers or Spamming SMTP servers?

If not I propose we make a list here of IP addresses we all have blocked. "Act before there is a problem. Bring order before there is disorder."

The last thing a spammer wants is to be able to be tracked down. This is not only because they would be CAUGHT and BEATEN for their activities, but also because they THEMSELVES might receive annoying spam messages.

They change their addresses frequently.

A more effective way of filtering spam is denying e-mail from servers that allow spammers to get away with what they are doing. These servers are "Open Relay" servers (mail servers that allow anyone to "bounce" mail off of).

There are many organizations who collect lists of Open Relay servers (they test to make sure someone actually is an open relay server before black listing them). If you get on their blacklist, you can be removed by removing all of your open relay info and then asking them to test your server. If it passes the test, you are removed. All this is generally free!

You can obtain a list of open relay servers (so you can block them) from places like "

unfortunately implementing that in notes is not that easy.

we've put a unix box in front of our domino box for incoming smtp with postfix that uses a couple of those blacklists.

Woonjas,

Do you happen to have some links to how I might learn how to do what you have done, by putting a Unix box in front?
