List of Pay Periods using Month parameter

I am trying to list the Pay_Periods on my report header, for the month entered as a Parameter.

The pay_period data is stored as datetime: 17-OCT-09. The input parameter in a Month value "1" for January, "2" for February etc.

I would like to show the distinct list of pay_periods for the selected month on my report header.

You could add a crosstab that uses the date as both the row and the summary field and then suppress one or the other and remove the grid.

Or insert a subreport that is linked on the parameter, with the same record selection formula, and then insert a group on date and suppress all other sections.
