Does anyone know where I can get a list of junk programs with descriptions of what they do. I have three kids that are constantly using the internet and we have issues with popup programs and other programs running in the background. I use foundstones fport.exe to check on programs running and since I don't spend my time studing OS I don't know what should be running and what should not. I am running Windows XP Home, Windows XP Pro, and Windows 2000 Pro on three different PCs networked in my home. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks

Open task manager up (shortcut key is Ctrl + Shift + Escape if you didn't know)
Go to:
and check everything that you're running. That will be a start and should remove any stuff that is actually slowing the PC down.
