Ok i have windows xp installed i succesfully installed Red Hat 9 via text installation, everything worked fine until Red Hat loaded (GUI) mi monter went on stant by and im not able to see anything, but i have an LCD tv connected to my video card to so when i use that i see RH gui but its all distorted so i go to text mode login and my monitor wakes up again i alredy changed the resolution to 640x840 but i still have problems. Im trying to install the newest drivers for my video card to see if it works but i dont have a CD burner or a floppy drive right now so is there a way i can transfer the .rpm from the windows partition to the linux / folder on its partition, or do you think is there another way to solve the problem. Thanks.

I have:

-Windows XP
-XP 2100+
-256 333 RAM
-NEC FE770
-FX5200

Do you have any available (unallocated) space on your hard drive? Quite often, people make a small FAT32 partion to transfer files from one operating system to the other because both operating systems can read and write to a FAT32 partition.

Another option: Just because you don't have the RH GUI loaded, doesn't mean that you can't browse the web. It may be easist at this point to just download the driver while using RH. Try using "Lynx" to browse from the text console.

You can try to find a program that will let you mount ext2 partitions, but the easier is to boot to linux and mount the windows partition and copy the data.

The best thing to do if you are dual booting is to create a shared partition that is fat32 that both windows and linux use to store files you want shared between the two, or use a NAS device to store the file and copy from the NAS device.

NAS = Network Attached Storage
