We are looking to purchase a notebook to install Red Hat Linux 7.2 on. I have gone to RedHats website to view supported notebooks. We are leaning towards a Dell Inspiron 4100, with the following configuration:

PIII 1.0GHz
14.1 SXGA+ ATI 16MB Video
512 MB RAM
3COM Type II 10/100 PC Card or Integrated Network Card
Internal 56K Modem

Has anyone had problems installing Linux on Dell Notebook 4100's? What about X-Windows Configuration? Does it work properly out of the box, or will I need an updated file? I am also open for suggestions on other laptops to use for Red Hat 7.2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Joe

Yes, it will. Works out of the box.

I guess you know the issues with winmodems - that did not work for us. We downloaded a patch and it is now working.
