linux intallation

hi i have windows 2000 pro installed on my P3 600 mhz with 20 gb hdd and 128 mb ram. i have 4 partitions

1. c: - 8.87 ntfs
2. d: - 3.90 ntfs
3. e: - 3.90 fat32
4. f: - 1.92 fat32

now i want to install linux on drive f:
when i start insatlling red hat linux 6.2, i only have this
everything goes fine..i make native ,swap,boot and usr partition in disk druid. after when i click on "ok" it says that i have to make linux native partition to ext2 ,,please tell me how do i do that..
another think we must have 1024 cylinder so that bios can access linux kernel please tell me how do i do that..
i have gone through many books which explains linux installation but every one has assumed that ita fresh installation..

please tell me how to install linux..iam really dieng for it .well my mailing address is mastguy_1234@yahoo.com

It seem to me you do not have any space available for Linux. Because you did created all available space for windows. You must delete partition F, then use it for Linux. You do not need 1024 cylinder for linux ( I might wrong). Because I do create boot parttion for dual boot (Win 2000 and Linux).

basically you need to either delete the f partition from disk druid and create your swap and root (/) partitions using swap and ext2 filesystems (chosen when creating the partition) or you can use a third part program such as Partition Magic to convert the partitons for you.

I can't make any promises either but I think as long as you set up the bootloader in the boot sector of the drive, you shouldn't have to worry about the 1024 cylinder limit. I believe I had my 20Gig drive while I was still on redhat 6.5 If you want to make sure you could get a copy of 7.2. I have just set that up in the last 10gigs of a 80Gig drive.
