My friend have done this before for me, what I want to do is to install Linux on the same machine running windows 2000. Could someone give me the full instructions of how to do this???

What my friend did was he install PARTITION MAGIC on the machine and patition the hard to two partitions and install Windows 2000 on one partition and Linux on the other partition, he install Windows 2000 first and move this partition to the end. Any way, can someone give me the ful instruction of how to do this please.

Thanks

I assume that you use redhat but it's almost the same with other distribution ... follow the instruction in the RedHat's GUI during the installation it will recgnize the Windows based partition automatically and when it will ask to which boot loader to use lilo or grub (i prefer lilo and i can give you more support if there will be problem) and put it in the mbr of the HD. It's not clear what have you with the partition magic (what means you have moved windows at the end? and why have you done it?) but i don't think that it will be problem .. when you'll reboot you will have a graphic choose between linux and windows (sometimes it called dos but you can rename it during the installation .. it's a only label nothing more) and so you are to go ...

Bye
Pietro
