Hello everyone,

Basically I have a Linux/Unix based web/ftp server, I really need a solution for an automatic way of synchronizing the ftp directory. I know about Samba, but I need to sync this directory to a windows box during the night. I have about 50 users that use this server for dumping files via ftp. I basically need to download these every night and then I can use scripts here to manage the files.

Has anyone done anything like this before?

Thanks

JB

Read up on cron enables you to run specific commands or scripts at scheduled times / days etc.

I would recommend you consider "xxcopy" by PixeLab.

You'd run it as a job on your Windows server.

With the correct command line parameters, you can tell xxcopy to copy updated and/or new files from your source to a remote destination folder. You can optionally delete files from one or the other once the "transaction" is verified. For instance, if you wanted to make the destination a perfect sync of the source, you'd want unmatched folders/files on the source (from a prior sync) to be purged.

I use it for Windows-to-Windows scheduled syncs, but I know you can use it Windows-to-Samba too.
