I have a dual boot computer, PIII 700, 256m ram, running W2K and Linux. My son has a Win98, e-tower. I have both computer plugged into switching hub. My DSL router, Cisco 675, is plugged into the hub as well. Although I can share between the two computers when W2K is running on my machine, I can't when I am running Linux, Mandrake 8.0.

I want to share my laser printer with him, so he doesn't spend so much on ink for his inkjet printer.

I there a way to configure the two machines so that the Win98 machine can share the printer regardless of whether I am running W2K or Linux? Or do I need to either get a print server or install Linux on his machine?

Yes you can use Linux as a network print server.
Instead of me going through alot of info that is very well
written already, find the Printing-HOWTO which is probably
on your hard drive in linux already if you installed the howto
package. (or /usr/doc/HOWTO/Printing-HOWTO).
This will give you the basics and also has referal links to more
info.
