Greetings Colleagues
I was wondering if the Linux Application software is supported in a Virtual Machine environment. I have a Quad-core HP server with dual NIC with which I have loaded Win 2k8 Std R2 and setup HyperV. While following the installation manual the section for configuring the NIC (eth0) is noticeably absent. The screen eventually comes to the Linux CLI and informs me that the NIC is not configured and that I may use a command "default ip" to set up a default ip address but the command is not recognised, even after logging in. N.B. I am a complete Linux dunce!!!

Please offer your wise advice. TIA.

Mike

Run the command "setup" after logging in as root. It displays a menu with the option you need.

O, I forgot. I have most of my linux app servers running as a virtual machine,VXWare, VMWare, Microsoft etc. no problem.

The NICs on the VM server must be setup in bridge mode any other config will fail.
