OK - Crazy problem.... We have 3 WAP54Gs in a school. First one is set to AP mode, 128-bit WEP, SSID disabled - nothing fancy. Second WAP54G set to repeater mode, repeating the MAC of the first WAP. The third is also set to repeater mode, and it is repeating the signal from the second WAP. Everything connected to the third WAP is getting an IP ( from our DHCP server ), and a gateway, and a DNS server, but is NOT getting internet access. Everyone connected to the first WAP is connected just fine, humming along for weeks now, but no love on the third. A little help?

The third should repeat from the first WAP, not the second.

That was my suspicion.... is there a way to chain repeaters because the distances we need to cover are substantial ( well, on the order of a few hundred obstructed feet at least ). There is no chance given the current layout that the 3rd can repeat the first.... How about this for a solution:
* WET54GS5 receiving signal from WAP1
* Hardwire second WAP from WET54GS5
* Repeat 2nd WAP on 3rd
Whaddya think? Thanks bcastner - you rule

Wow - don't know why I didn't think of this before:
WAP1 ->WIRELESSLY CONNECTED-> WET54Gs5 -> WIRED -> WAP2

Now if the second wireless access point is generating the same SSID as the first, and the WET is listening for that SSID - what do you think is going to happen? Endless loop! Bridge sends signal to WAP, which then sends a signal wirelessly back to the bridge. KABLAMO!
