Didn't know where else to post this.
I am trying to get a linksys dsl router to run. It is unable to connect to remote computer. When I disconnect the router it works fine. I have PPPOE enabled with username and password for their SBC account, but still no good. They are running WINXP as OS.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

contact your provider to make sure the provisioning is correct. PPPoE off a router is easy when all is setup correctly from the telco/isp. I would contact the helpdesk to verify the following.

correct shelf card and port from the DSLAM
correct programming PPPoA or PPPoE ( 0&35 or 8&35 )
Are you set up for dynamic or static? Jeter@LasVegas.com

It is set up dynamically. I tried calling the ISP and they said they don't support that router, the DSL works fine with the ISP provided modem. I have yet to get a hold of linksys tech support (45 min hold time), thanks for the input, I'll let you know what happens.

Hi Matt!!

I work for an ISP and we have seen alot of problems with low end routers such as Linksys and Asante. Make sure the router has the firmware 1.30. This firmware fully supports PPPoE and make sure that it is flashed to the router before you call Linksys as it is the first thing that they will have you do.

You can download it here:

Let me know if this helps, if not or if you already have it I have a couple of ther suggestions for you. Serenity

I was going to say the samething.. get the current firmware installed on the Linksys.. they problems with the earlier versions of the firmware with PPPoE

I am doing this for a friend and it will be a couple of days before I can get back over there. At least I have some leads now. I'll post again and let y'all know what happens.

Thanks Again!

Sorry it took so long, but I got it up and running. Problem turned out I had to statically enter the ISP DNS servers. Thanks for the help!
