I have a linksys wmp54g pci card installed on my pc and a netgear wgr614 router. I have configured everything such as the ssid and the wep password but the linksys pci card does not seem to see the router. It tells me that the card is active and searches for the network but doesnt pick anything up. The signal should be fine though because my laptop can pick up the signal from the same location. Can anyone help?

Even if you dont authenticate you should still see the device. XP service pack2???
You might try uninstalling the linksys software that manages the card and let windows manage the netowrk connection.

im actually using windows 2000 server

I would recommened actually using the Netgear software to access the wireless, I have found the signal is better (I know it sounds weird, lol). Disable windows from managing your wireless connections, it for some reason recieves terrible signal strenght, have found this with my netgear WG511 and my Linksys wireless card (had to switch, who would have thought sticking the laptop in the bag with the card in it would have been a stupid idea, lol).
