Hello
I have a Linksys BEFSR41 router with 4-port switch connected to 3 computers all with 10/100 LAN cards and I am also connected to the net via a cable modem (NTL).

I have a problem with mirc and msn messager. Both these program timeout but they don't disconnect, this is starting to get annoying because msn sits there and i think i am connect but i am not

Thanks for any help sugestions

Have you tried opening the ff. ports for the msn and mirc?
for msn: 6891-6901, 1863, 5190
for mirc: 6660 - 6669, 113

I have all ports open for irc, msn usually works without any forwarding except when e-donkey is running.

Without port 113 irc wont get ident so thats a must anyway.

It's like looking for a pigmy in very long grass ! ;-)

THE SOLUTION IS:-

I have found by setting an announcement in my own IRC channel to broadcast every 2 minutes this stops IRC from disconnecting !

MSN seems to be ok if you are sending/recieving msgs etc, and since I did the IRC fix I hav'nt been disconnected in MSN when not using it. ---------------
