Thank you for reading and any help you post.

There is a network drive on my computer.

When linking to files outside of the document I'm working on I experience the following:

Some links take the letter of the drive (for example F:\) and other times it takes the UNC path (for example \\192.168.10.5\sharename)

Does anyone know why it does this? Do anyone know how to make it just take the letter of the network drive?

Thanks

Is f: a mapped drive? Is it possible that links to mapped drives are displaying the drive letter and links to shares that are not mapped are displaying as a UNC?

Correct: F is a mapped drive.

For example some excel links are going to the letter and others are going to the ip address...

What is your experience when linking excel documents in this type of setup? Did you ever encounter this?

Is the f: drive mapped locally or is it mapped for everyone?
If it is mapped for everyone it shouldn't cause a problem.
In Outlook, I can use the insert...hyperlink dialog and click the browse for file icon, then my network places, then entire network, etc. and it displays as the UNC. More often though,I just type the path into the email text \\server\share\folder.
