Linking two Switches.

After a few recommendations. We may need to link two Nortel switches. OPtion11 and possibly a 61. The 11 is ours, the 61 is an external company. There will possibly be a 2Mb link between the two sites (primarily for data). I have just thrown the spanner in the works by saying surely we will need to pass voice between the two sites.


Now what would you guys recommend to link the two ? ITG, DPNSS or whatever ? Do not as yet have an ITG trunk card of DPNSS card so a clean slate.

if your in the states, the simple way to go is pri.. 23 channel for voice.one d....names msg lamps etc.. itg trunks would be my next choice...even better is to make your 11 a fiber or carrier remote off of the 61.. then you are all on the same switch..

If you are going to combine the data and voice over the same pipe you'll need to make sure that you can prioritise the voice traffic

I would use ITG as a start or as a alternative set up a qsig tie into a cisco router at each end.

Is the link into this other company going to be permenant? if so you'll need to look into the dialling plans of each company

Not sure how perm' the link will be, so would probably look at using an access code to dial between the two sites. I like the idea of ITG as would give a little more flexibility. As to enjoy I doubt it. As usual voice is forgotten about until the end so have to shoe horn it in on minimum budget.

if budget is a problem then voip might also be a problem, you can get a drop and insert to demark 1.54 meg to each switch and just buy 2 pri/dch cards.. i would recogmend using ac2 as opposed to acod, (which i don't think will wirk on voip). just make all numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 as a spn for ac2 with a rli pointing to your new route.. cleaner, quicker and you can use the frl for any rst. you might need. (maybe leave out the 9)...hard to believe we get paid to have this much fun..

Lots of fun. On top of this just been told we have the go ahead to integrate the switch with Voice Rec systems. Never rains but it pours.

Who do you use for voice rec?

We are about to stick NICE in and to monitor our calls, we have more coax than you can shake a stick at.... and to record our ITG we are going to use 2616 sets with a conference button on it.........hmmmmmm nice.....

Bad abreviation on my part. I ment Voice Recognition, and integrating it with symposium.

On voice recording, if you have a problem with ITG coulnt you look at trunk side recording ?
