Hi all ,

I am working on some system generated reports.

mostly data comes off the table since those are system generated reports. so it was ok, Now I am asked to make a report and do something that involves linking of tables.

How can I make sure that the linking I am doing is right.

rightnow, some 8-10 fields match by name or by key in visual linking expert.

When I run the report it takes forever to run.

Thanks for your help.

Well,, table linking is best done, by the unique key of the table.. such as order number, or customer number. If you provide some info, we may be able to make suggestions on the best way to link the tables.

Thanks Jmd for the reply.

there is one ID number common to both and thats unique for sure. apart from that the tables were auto-linked on its own and has some 8 links together including (unique ID) Should I delete all links except ID one?

I do not have access to backend of database and cant query using sql/plsql, I can only link it through visual linking expert.

Hi,
Follow jmd0252's advice and, as a general rule, do not use the Visual Linking Expert's ideas for the links, it is not very reliable and usually makes incorrect assumptions about your data.

I am still not sure if I should delete all links except ID one? I am unable to see table in its true structure. only option is visual linking through IDs
