Does anyone have any idea why I can't link more than one field from an Access database to the database that's supposed to be returning information?

Let's say for example I have a database that has 10 fields to enter in item numbers, all associated with the same record.

Now I want to link all 10 fields to one database that will return the titles of the item numbers entered.

But it won't let me do that. How can I get it to work? The error I get when trying to link them is "Invalid file link. Not all fields in same index expression."

Anyone have any ideas?? I'll send you an example if you need to see it.

Thanks.

I should also mention that I can link the first field to the database and it returns the results as it should. But I can't link more than one.

I'm using Crystal 7.

So ten separate fields in the first table have descriptions in a second table? Try adding an alias of the look-up table for each field, so that each field has its own look-up table.

I think we need some clarification:

"Now I want to link all 10 fields to one database that will return the titles of the item numbers entered."

Does this mean that that 10 fields in one DB = 10 fields in another DB *all at the same time*.

Or (i am thinking this one) does this mean that you have another DB with something like itemnumber, desc as fields and you want to link your 10 fields to this DB so you can get descritions for each of the 10 fields.

If the latter is the case you need to add the second DB table 10 times (once for each field you want to link) and will ask you for an alias every time ... i would use somthing like descpart2, descpart3 etc to make it easy to figure out which desc is for which part.
