hi,

Why not just use the AutoFilter?

Hi,

I am not sure why you would recommend AutoFilter.
Does Autofilter have functionalities that recognizes postal codes and populate the correct address?

Or, maybe I was not clear enough.

The list I have is ONLY the postal codes.
I do not have the address for each of the postal codes I have.
Hence, I was wondering if there is a formula or coding so that once any of the postal codes are selected, it will generate the address.

Does this make sense?
If autofilter has this functionality, how can I do so?

Where do you think that Excel would get it? Magic?

I assumed, wrongly, it seems, that you had a TABLE containing ALL the data that you required, and that you needed to DISPLAY the subset of data based on the selection of a postal code.

Presumably there is a tabulation of postal codes and addresses (or at least towns or neighborhoods) that you can obtain for free or fee.

Then it would seem a simple lookup would do it.

Unless of course there is a secret decoder formula for the postal codes of whatever country you are concerned about.

My bad for not being clear enough.

Butyea, magic... lol

Well, I was wondering if excel had a feature that once the cell has been clicked, google map might populate or something like that.

But if there isn't a simple way, then I guess I just have to make the list myself and then looking up from there.

determine the Address by just clicking the postal codes

I say it can't be done because any one zip code can cover many street addresses and in some rural cases maybe multiple cities.

Given the complete address (# Street, city and state or province)you can determine the postal code. There are available free zip code tables, but then again this is not what you requested.

Sorry it just can't be done in my opinion

Sam

I think you'd have to use a service like:

ws.geonames.org

... once you're registered, you'd need to write to some VBA to access your required data, and I'm not sure I'd know exactly what to do for your kind of request.

Cheers, Glenn.

Thanks all for the suggestions.
Much appreciated.
