I have a customer that may eventually be a good candidate for a direct link between two full blown, MICS systems in the same building. I hate last minute surprises so I wanted to run this by the top contributing Norstar gurus here just to see how practical that's really gonna be and wondering if anyone can think of any good reason(s) not to do it?
I'm pretty sure the two systems would be less than 325 feet apart so I'm thinkin' with an extra DTI card in each system and a long patch cord between them, I could create a universal coordinated dialing plan and provide a fairly seamless interface.
The voice mail is the part I'm concerned about and they'd rather not have two voice mail systems. I'm sure each system will need some 200 plus mailboxes so even the CP-150 is way too small.
As I recall there is a way to use a Mod Plus (NAM) as a centralized voice mail system but not sure if that's a very viable option or if it's a seamless interface where all the feature codes work normally. Not real crazy about those hard drive based vmail systems either.
I'd be real interested in hearing from anyone who may have done this before or anyone who is maintaining systems that are already successfully and seamlessly linked together like this.
