Linking 2 Tables

I am new at the Crystal Reports program and I am looking for some help on linking 2 tables. Every time I try to put more that one table in my report and try to preview the report no data shows up. I am wondering what I am doing wrong. I am adding another table to report and finding the table I want, adding it and when the linking screen comes up it is automaticly linking the reports by the correct fields. What am I doing wrong?

Crystal typically links files with the same name. This could be wrong, as when an account and its transactions both had a field called STATUS.

Try removing all of the links, and then putting back just those that are absolutely essential.

Since you're new, you probably also need to know about Left Outer. The idea of such a link is that Record A will sometimes have one or more associated examples of Record B, but also sometimes not.

Suppose, for instance, that you want to report all accounts, along with any change-of-address records for the account. Only a few of them will have such records. If you make an EQUALS link, you will just get those with at least one change-of-address

You should also have said which Crystal. But I've seen the same problem in both Crystal 8.5 and 10.

Also, try going to your database menu and 'Show SQL Query'.

What this does is show you what is being sent to the database. It might give you an excellent hint.

If you don't understand it, you can bring it back here and maybe we can help you interpret it.
