I am trying to create a linked server in SQL 2000 to spreadsheets in Excel 2003. I'm getting the following error;

Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' reported an error.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: Could not find installable ISAM.]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' IDBInitialize::Initialize returned 0x80004005: ].

All of the articles I have found concerning links to Excel only talk about versions of Excel older than 2003. Is it possible to create a linked server to Excel 2003, and if so, how do I do it?

Thanks,

Then... I don't know. Sorry. Hopefully someone else will have an idea. Good luck.

Thanks for trying... I had checked the MDAC version on my laptop where Excel was running... didn't dawn on me that I should check the server...
