link text wizard disappearing

I am trying to link a text file to my access database. i went into the access database, and clicked file, get external data and then link tables. When i click on this, it allows me to go out and select the file that i need. but when i select it and click on the link button, or double click on that file, it looks like the linking wizard pops up and then disappears. Down in the bottom text area where stuff comes up, it says Link Text Wizard. I looked to see if it was being hidden under the window dropdown. I can't think of what is wrong. i restarted access, and my computer. i repaired and compacted. nothing will work.

This is still happening. has anyone ever heard of this. i cannot link a file that i need.
