Our Terminal that we use to administer our Definity system just died. Any other options besides buying a replacement?

I am planning on buying a replacement (if I can find one), but in the meantime I need to do some work in the system.

Thanks,
Brandon

You can use any terminal emulator package, such as ProCom, ASA, or ATE loaded on a PC (use 4410 Emulation) or Hyper Term (VT100), connected to the TERM port on the back of the cabinet with an RS-232 cable or use the same emulator to dial into the INADS port.

Thanks for the reply.

The terminal that died had a 25 pin cable connected to that. If I through and adapter on that to make it a serial port and plug it into a PC, and use ProComm loaded on a the PC, should that do the trick?

Yes, as long as you configure the emulator to talk to the correct COM port.

715 bcs or 715 gbcs2 is a much better replacement for the Max 900. Especially if it doubles as your Audix admin terminal.

Avaya. Too little or no help? Expensive?

I ended up using TUTTY from a PC. It worked perfectly! It also has the function keys listed on the screen just like the terminal did.

Plus you can Remote Desktop to the PC now if you put it on the LAN. Assuming the only reason the terminal was an issue was because you have a pre-9.5 system without direct LAN access.
