Hello:

I am working with Reports created in version 8.5, but trying the save them in version 9.0 - to make them available through an external application. When I open the old report using 9.0, links between tables have been lost.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? And if so, is there a way to fix the issue without re-creating the report from scratch? I have tried just restoring the link and testing, but the report seems to run and run and I end up having to stop it before it has pulled all the info.

Any help would be great!

Teresa

I have upgraded from 8.5 to 10 and it was no problem.

Surely no need to rebuild whole report just reinstate correct links between tables.

Thanks IanWaterman,

In at least one case, simply restoring the link did not appear to fix the problem. The report is considerably slower and the number of records keeps inflating. It takes so long to load, I actually have to stop the report!

I have not had the chance to check all fields in the tables, but don't know what else to do. Is there a way to compare reports (similar to compare & merge in Microsoft Word)?

Thanks,
Teresa

Can you show us the SQL generated by the report after you have reinstated links. That may give some clues as to what is going on.

Hi Ian,

I am offsite today, and can't get the SQL right now. I will re-post with the SQL as soon as I can.

Thanks,
Teresa

I had a similar problem, on just one report out of many we upgraded. Complex links were producing one result in 8.5 and another in 10.

As IanWaterman says, the SQL shows the difference. Compare what 8.5 makes of your links against what 10 does: the difference may be obvious.

They did a major update on Database access in CR 9, so while some reports migrate up smoothly, others had problems. Just go back into the Database expert and recreate the links. Shouldn't take too long, and most of the time, the links will be the ones you have always used.
