Hi,

I have created a simple report listing all open sales orders. The sales order is the unique piece of data. A sales order could have an unlimited number of lines on it. i want to alter the report to easily distinguish between order numbers.

i could put an extra line spacing in between every order number; so at change in every sales order number put an extra space.

Or i would also consider colour coding the lines; so first order number would be grey, the next order number no colour, the next grey again and so on. therefore no need for an extra line spacing.

Remember every order number would have a varying number of lines on it.

i would group on order number.
then you could use the group footer as the 'space' between orders with no extra work.
if you do not need the group header, suppress it.

ok thanks, this will work for one report that is sent out as a PDF. however i have a similar report that is sent to excel, so that people can then use to add comments to, when i export doing what you suggested would the report export in a user friendly way?

i believe it would export as it does without the grouping, except with an blank line (row) between groups
