I have a customer with a partner system. When they are on the phone and the next line rings in it rings once then just flashes. I have been told that is the way the partner is, so the continue ring does not bother the caller while on the phone. Question is there a way round this so that when I am on the phone the next call ringing in will ring until I pick it up. Just checking. Thanks

Sincerely, thephoneboy

No. What you have enabled is abbreviated ringing. It's either that or no ring at all. I question why you would want the phone to ring continuously when you are sitting right there anyway.

Hi thephoneboy,
Just turn off abbrev. ringing for that extension. #305, ext#, select on or off. Default is on.

I turn it off for operator positions. It helps give the caller the idea that maybe there is another call. Makes it easier for operators to break off.

Thank You for your help. That is great to know. The customer in this case is a Exxon station. The have about 6 phones. And they are spread out to shop, office, bays and cashier. So when they are on the phone they really don't pay attenstion to the phone if it only rings once while on the phone. Plus very high employee turn over. So the owner who has been calling in with limited staff. And when they are on the phone they don't answer the call. So the owner wants no excuse if the phone is ringing he wants it to ring regardless. He figures that does not give the employess an excuse. Thanks again for your help.
Sincerely,

Sincerely, thephoneboy

Is it just me? Wouldnt that be the "privacy" feature of Partner. You are on a call, if you hear the first ring it shouldnt be delayed ringing(that shouldnt ring until the 4th or 5th ring??) If phone is off hook, you hear the first ring, the line still blinks as if to ring, but will ring every 4th ring or so, I thought.

nope telecomtekperson, it is abbreviated ringing enabled for that extension.

We all need a little help once in awhile. Tony the Phoneman..

If you turn off abrev ringing then the call will continue to ring while you are on another line.
