line pool on hold problem

have a client that has an old cics using 08 phones, they have 8 lines in line pool A. here is the problem if they put a call on hold instead of the line pool button being on hold it moves to the intercom position so there is no way to intercom. any ideas?
 
how many intercom buttons do u have? sounds like only one program a second one on the set. also use call park instead.
 
If you access the outside line using a line pool button and you want to put the call on hold you must use call park (FEATURE 74). The call will be assigned and access code ie 101 on the display of the phone and placed on hold. To retrieve the call go to any set and use the intercom button and enter the access code, in this example 101.
