REFERENCE: MICS 4X32 W/ STARTALK 2/4-PORTHello friends:

Well, the system arrives this Friday, and installation is set for Monday!! I might be posting lots this weekend to be sure I know how to do everything:

1. Can someone give me instructions for assigning outside lines to a line pool?

2. How exactly does the "SET COPY" feature work? Do I get everything the same on one set and then copy those settings to other phones where I want the exact same settings? I'm not clear which options actually copy - is it everything?

-----------

Thanks for the help!
Michael.

Micheal.

Go to lines, put each line in a pool. Then give the line pool access code 9 with an external code 9. Then give each set access to line that particular line pool.

set copy says what it says. It copies the set. lines, capabilities, restrictions, etc.

Also depending on your software version, you can copy certain parts of programming, and also features on the buttons. I have also found that having the phones connected to the system before copying features is the way to go.

Michael,
Another little bit on copying sets: If they are the same model, you can also copy the user buttons. When at the copy prompt, the window will say COPY: SYSTEM data. Hit CHANGE until it says SYSTEM+USER.
You mentioned MICS 4X32. Do you know what software release? That will help us help you, if you need to post back with more questions this weekend. Some of the programming prompts are different with different versions.

Sorry Gabriel, wasn't trying to step on you. Guess we were both replying at the same time. You had a good response.

No Problem. That's what great about this forum, getting different angles and elaborating on others.

Thanks for reminding me of the software version MarvO - I always forget to put than in posts.

I'm still not 100% sure I know where to go to assign the line pools. Basically what I need to do is to ensure that Line 4 can only be accessed by 4 extensions on the system, and the other 19 extensions access lines 1-3 only as Line 4 is a private line and not a business line. This is basically for the M7100 users who need to dial digits to access line pools.

Thanks for any help!
Michael.

Enter programming.

You'll see "Terminals and Sets". Hit next.
You'll see "Lines". Hit show.
You'll see "Show Line:" Enter 001. Hit Show.
You'll see "Trunk/Line Data". Hit Show.
You'll see "Trunk Type: Loop" (Probably). Hit Next.
You'll see "Line Type:####" If you haven't changed anything, you'll see "Line Type: Public". Hit the softkey below "Change" and cycle thru until you see "Pool A".

Do this for every line you want assigned to the line pool. You could do the same thing for the 4th line as well if you wanted, but instead of Pool A, cycle until you see Pool B.

Now your lines are assigned as pool lines. You need to give an access code for the lines now.

Scroll thru the main headings until you see "System Programming". Hit Show.
Hit Next until you see "Access Codes". Hit Show.
You'll see "Line Pool Codes". Hit Show.
You'll see "Line Pool A: None". Hit Change, then enter the digit you want to use for that line pool; ie "9".
(If you created a 2nd line pool, hit next here and do the same for Pool B, but use a different digit of course, ie "8").

Now you need to give the individual extensions "Line Pool Access" in order for them to be able to use these newly created pools.

Cycle thru the main headings to get to "Terminals and Sets".
Hit Show. You'll see "Show Set". Enter the first extension you want to grant line pool access to...ie 221.
You'll see (for this example) "221:221" hit Show.
You'll see "Line Access". Hit Show
You'll see "Line Assignment". Hit Next.
You'll see "Line Pool Access". Hit Show.
You'll see "Line Pool A:N (or possibly Y, depending upon the template you used at startup). It needs to be Y to access the pool. if it says N, hit change.
If you need to grant access to Pool B, hit next, then change the N to Y.

Hope this helps!

Chris
