I have an Access database I created and there is a report that is printed at the end of the day. The report has 20-30 items and each one has the record number printed on the report form (along with other necessary info). Each morning this report is gone over at a meeting and usually once each morning someone has to refer to a particular item as: "let's look at the 5th item from the bottom"

I would like to add a line item number next to each item, starting from 1 and going to the last item sequentially.

The number only needs to be printed on the report and does not have to be in a table.

With this someone could then say: "Look at item number 15" ...much easier to find!!!

thanks!!!

Hi,
Just place an unbound text box where you want the numbers to run. Control source =1. Set Running Sum to Over All.
That should do it.

Thanks! That worked great! I wrote this database over a year ago and it has worked good since. I haven't touched Access programming hardly at all since so my mind went blank when I was asked to add this feature!
