Hi All...novice here. I have inherited an IP Office and I am trying to figure it out.
When I look at my system, I see what appears to be one Line group - Line (10) and in it are my PRI and SIP and a few POTs lines.
However, when I look at my short codes, almost all of them show Line Group 0 selected. Only 2 show Line group 10.
Since my primary short code 9N, is what we use for calling, 9,number, I am confused as to why it is pointing to Line Group 0.
In fact, I am wondering why there is even a Lien Group 0 and Line Group 1, when I am only seeing Line Group 10.

Can someone explain Line Group 0 and Line Group 1?

Thanks,
Fiona C

Well it would be unusual to have 3 different types of lines all in the same group.

I recall Line 0 is the default and is taken by the first trunk card installed in the system, but of course line numbers and group can be changed to suit your configuration.

For dial 9 it usually points to an ARS that splits things up by best routing. You may also find different dial 9's for different User Rights groups. Line group 0 should only be used for internal calls. Though it is the default line group. Line groups are for call routing. ARS usually starts at 50.

Maybe I am misreading this. When I look at my lines, I see Line 1 and it is the PRI. All the channels under it show Incoming Group 0 and Outgoing Group 0...does this mean that any of my short codes, assigned Line Group 0, will come in/go out the PRI?

My SIP shows Line Group 10.

My POTS show Line Group 1.

I was think I may have been misunderstand the Line Group.

Also, the ARS codes for us are default. We are very small...I think we just using the short codes.

Confusingly line groups start at 0 but lines start at 1.

All lines are line group 0 by default so may need changing.

I assume the PRI trunk card was first in the system so it is line 1.

I think POTs would have taken line 2. This would also be given line group 0 but would need changing.

From what I have seen SIP trunks start at line 17.

Correct - PRI is Line 1, SIP is line 17.

Line Groups references in PRI are 0, and in SIP it is group 10.

I see nothing establishing Line groups. Are the group numbers just arbitrarily assigned in the PRI and SIP setup?

Just to clarify - all lines start in line group 0 so this may need to be changed depending on your set up especially for different types of line.

Line numbers are allocated by the system but can be changed as needed.

You'd then need to set different routes, short codes etc for each line group.
