Line graph trendlines?

Does anyone know if the line graph can have trendlines (a straight line that overlays a series of points, showing the trend of the curve). This is a common feature of Excel, but I can't find it here. I do know that the RS graphs came from Dundas rather than native to Microsoft, so this could be one of the differences.

Do you mean like the Scatter charts in Excel where you can get the "markers" at each point along the way, or the Line charts where it almost does the same thing, but is more sharply angled?

I know RS does the scatter charts (I'm looking at a screen shot of it in my Hitchhiker's book).

Not quite sure what you mean with the scatter "markers". I am looking for a straight trendline that "best fits" to your curve in a line graph, just like the Excel trendline option. For example (curve is periods, trendline is asterisk):

Drag a chart into your Layout of your report. Right click the chart and go to properties. Choose the XY (Scatter) chart under Chart Type and see if that is what you're looking for.

I'm going to be working on learning how to do charts this afternoon, so I'll let you know if I can make what you're trying to do work. I'm not so sure that this is an available feature in RS or not given the chart Sub-Types listed...

Hi,

I do need to draw trend lines in some of the reports. Is it just not a part of RS, or I just can't find it?

I have a date field on the x axis, and two series in the data part of the report. I need to draw linear trend line.
