I've worked w/ the directions for Call Appearances in 3.0's docs but with no success. Initially, I couldn't access the lines for outbound calling. Once I put "9" in the PREFIX section of the lines, now I get dialtone rather than no lights/no audio when a Line Appearance is pressed.

However, when I call out, it seems to be adding a digit, thus making the outbound number void. Any thoughts? I'd love to have the config from someone who's been able to make this work.

I strated testing this last week myself. I tried two ways.

1) with a 2420 with out the Prefix 9 in the line form. No dial tone. Insert the 9 prefix in the line form I got a dial tone how-ever same as you it would insert a nine, this would be fine for centrex lines (that don't use centrex services).

2)I tried it using a 6408 with out the 9 in the line form. it worked like a champ.

The only flaw in my testing is I was using an analog station from a definity PBX to supply dial tone to my IP 403. Not sure that this would matter.

In anycase for my testing I'm using a IP 403 with quad 4 analog card for my CO's.

I had the same problem w/ 2420, 6424, 4424, & 6408.

I think its using shortcodes somehow, but I'm not quite sure how.

According to the Knowledge Transfer call on R3 Line Appearance:
1) Under the line tab, you must put in the prefix field a 9 to get dial tone.
2) Must also have a 9 - SecondaryDialTone Shortcode in your system

I've got that, but the DIALED number is "." Is that whats inserting the extra 9?

When I tested the 6408 phone i did NOT have a secondery dialtone shord code built with that line ID nor did i have the prefix assigned and it worked. I'm gonna test it now. Maybe it was a fluke.

If you want a good config to work off of, try setting up with the wizard.
