I recently installed a 4450 DSS on a 4424D+ phone. I connected the phone to port 17 on an 024 TDL card (to make it an operator) gave it extension# 101 and added it to the DLC operator position list (Merlin Magix is in hybrid/PBX mode.) This system already had a 4424LD+ console on port 1 at extension 100 with a 4450 DSS. The buttons lined up properly on all 3 pages but the line appearances don't light up when the extensions are busy on the new 4450. I can transfer, intercom, etc. with the DSS but no lights. What did I miss?

You need the external power supply in order for it to light the lights. Check out the 4424LD+ and you'll see what I am talking about. A single line cord goes from the wall outlet to the power supply and then a 2-pair wire goes from the power supply to the telephone.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did install an inline power injector for the 4424 & 4450. The page buttons, etc. light up ok when pressed. It's just the extension buttons that don't light up when the stations are busy.

you need to renumber your pages on the dss to fit your dial plan

I tried resequencing the DSS pages in system renumber but the one DSS still doesn't light up the busy extensions. I also checked and verified that the Message Status (bottom left on DSS light was off.) Still no go.

if you have vertified that your stations 101 is programed as operator shows on your system setup page 100 & 101 , you have renumber your dss to your local dial plan have a green light on page button on the dss , then you may have a bad DSS,or a bad DSS port on the 4424, or do you have non-local dial plan on your dss which you can call but not see which is how thats works

Go off hook on the intercom, SA, whatever you want to call it. Dial *00...self test. Do the lights on the DSS light up?
Yes, the you my friend have a programming issue somewhere...No, then take the same DSS to a good known DSS and see if it does the same thing.....If it does...then shame on AVAYA for poor Q/A. No, then I would take the known good phone, plug into port 17 on the 024 card and plug in existing DSS.What happens? Lights, probably a bad phone. No lights, probably a bad power supply or card. Good luck.

Well, I must have a programming issue because all of the lights work ok in self test mode. I did not install this system so I'm not sure what the original installers did. I have found some querky stuff in the programming before on this system so I can't assume anything.

I know what you told us, but one more thing to check:

When you first go into program mode, does it show 101 as one of your attendants?

AND - Does this set show to be 101 when you do Feature 00?

Just a little reality check.

When I enter system programming mode it displays 100 & 101 as operator positions & yes this set is 101.

OK, one more simple test.

Since it seems you have 2 4424LD+ each with 4450 DSS, swap them and see what happens.

That should tell you something.

First I swapped the DSS's. Both work on port 01 ext 100 neither works on port 17 ext 101. Next I swapped phones. DSS's work on port 01 ext 100 with either phone but neither works on port 17 ext 101 with either phone. (024TDL card should allow operator positions at 01, 05, 13 & 17 right?)

Well, I'd have to see your system set up to give an informed answer.

SO, can you print that guy out for us?

BUT, if it says 101, port 17 is an attendant position, then it's rather certain that is not the problem.

How 'bout your adapters for the power on the 4424.

ALSO, the 1st Attendant is NOT a QCC is it?

HOLD EVERYTING !

I think I've got it.

101 is either in some ESS state that we don't know or it is in SUPERVISORY MODE.

STEP 1) Touch Feature, Dial 32 and then touch DROP

STEP 2) IF that does not take care of it. PRIINT OUT 101 and let's review what it says!

That will get us there.

Merlinman,

That didn't work either. I printed out everything and read through the entire report looking for both 100 and 101. I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary for either extension. I can send you the report if you like.

Yes, please do.

I think you can find my email on other posts.

I've been told not to post it any more.

Merlinman,

Can't find your email. Seems kind of crazy to post the whole report. What sections would you like and I'll condense the report.

Well, I get in trouble with the WEBMASTERS if I post my email.

SO, here's another option Email me a short message at:

(Bear with me while I figure out a NON-SPAMABLE CODE)

This will be a clue type thing.

The email is a name, and an AT sign followed by an email provider name and a DOT something...

That is, it looks like this (of course)

name@emailprovider.something

The name is the same as my post mame here.

The carrier is ONE LETTER LESS THAN ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

d p n d b t u DOT o f u

If you can't figure that out, I can come up with some easier clues or email names......
