client uses service when leaving at night. this morning line one is in use showing "line in use: vmail" ...our phone guy is away...i need help!!!

Does your company have a reception phone?
Do you have a manual night service button on it?
What are happening to inbound calls right now?
Are they going straight into your voicemail?

yes
yes
calls still come in because there's more than one line but line one is always in use showing "line in use: vmail"

how do we get that to go away?

Have you tried pressing the Night Service button on reception phone? This might disengage night ringing..

yes, that was already done. all other lines will ring at the reception desk.

but line one is still showing that it's in use but no one has it in use.

hmm..
can line one be used from any phone for outbound?
Or your saying when you grab line 1 is says in use vmail?

just unplug the power to the system and v mail for about 20 seconds

I'm thinking that the VMAIL has hung Line 1..because your saying calls are coming through still to reception phone..which indicates that your Telco is seeing this line1 engaged/buisy..so calls would then rollover to Line2. It is also stating that Line 1 is in use by VMAIL. Unless someone has some other recommendations I would say recycle the VM to see if this brings system back to idle.

had the same problem with a brand new Call Pilot 3.0, CICS 6.1.Had to drop the line by toggling from supervised to unsupervised and back again.Hoping it's not an issue with 3.0. What is your vmail version?
I wish I had pursued problem further ,but because customer also has alarm on that line and calls are answered by auto attendant...I am leaning toward modem in alarm locking up line to vmail.Hasn't happened again for a couple of days.
Curious to know what you have there though...
