I've had to be away from SMS for a while so I'll apologize up front if this is an SMS 101 question...

Is there a way to force SMS inventory collection to not inventory the common EXE's like debug.exe, dialer.exe, drwatson.exe, etc...?

Our helpdesk program has the ability to import data from SMS and it does me no good to view 500 executables on one PC that SMS has recognized.

There is no limitation concerning this I know of :(
But what you could do is creating queries that look only for specific .exe-files....

Hope this helps you a bit !

Cheers,
Chris

Yeah...I've got queries to sort through all of the data. I just do not see the need of having SMS inventory 600 notepad.exe, 600 wordpad.exe, 600 mspaint.exe, etc...

I was hoping that maybe Microsoft reversed some of their logic. I believe that in version 1.2 we had to specify which files to inventory...I was hoping that now there was a way to specify which ones to ignore.

Thanks for the reply.
