Is there a feature in a Meridian system to limit the length of outgoing calls from a particular set? I have a 2006 set up in our break room, and some employees make long calls (i.e. over 3 minutes) Can I make the extension automatically hang the call up after a predetermined length of time?

not on sets but you can set time on trk routes but 3 min. probably would not work?

I've had to deal with lobby / break room phones before. What I do is install analog lines (500/2500 sets) and use a third party call control device (I use a Viking, there are many other available). This thing installs in place of the wall plate or wall jack, and is programmed via touch tones to do all sorts of things (limit certain numbers, long distance, call duration control, etc.). DeanG,

Have you considered placing restriction on the phone i.e. in-house calls or local calls only, or just put an analog phone with a blank dial pad programmed as a "hot-line" to an operator/security that can transfer calls? The operator/securith can remind the user of the alloted time and that the call might be monitored for security and or custmer satisfaction issues. An appearance can be placed on the operator/security to remind them that a call has exceeded a certain limit. All this might discurage the users from being on the phone too long. I know that this might be a bit too much to ask of the operator/security but I am not aware of any devices or features on the pbx that can time a call. You can be creative with ACD and music on hold but will take a bit of engineering.

Thanks for advice and/or information from all.

I went with ajr3's suggestion, adding a toll restrictor device (from Viking, model TR1) link:
and it works great. I've gotten great enjoyment out of running the call accounting reports on the extension in question, before and after the install of the device.

[2thumbsup]

Thanks for the help...
