Limiting Crystal Reports XI Sub-report records returned to Main report

I tried this solution, but it didn't work in Crystal XI.

How do I limit the number of rows returned from the sub-report?

Please explain in what way you want to limit the rows, identify the group structure, specify in what section the sub is located and if it is linked, what field it is linked on.

I want the first row only. The sub-report is located on one of the detail sections of the main report and the link is on an ID number.

So there are multiple rows returned in the sub? Assuming you have the sub sorted so that the first row shows the result you want, just move the fields into the header section and suppress the rest of the subreport.
