When trying to get online i get a message which says limited/no connectivity when i try to repair it i get another message which tells me it cant find the ip address? Help!?

Your Ip address will begin 169.x.x.x this means you are not getting an IP lease from the router / ISP.

Or if you are statically assigning you IP then you have entered something incorrectly.

Can other PC's get on the network?

Without knowning more about you setup here are a few basic things you can check. Make sure you are useing a stright throught cable if you are connecting Via copper. Do you have lights on your NIC card? or on your router/switch?

. If he was using a static IP a repair operation would be denied. It only applies in DHCP settings;

. If the cable plant was bad he would get an Network Cable Unplugged message, not the error message that he receives.

All this message indicates is that a DHCP request failed on the client.

If you are using XP Service Pack 2:
Start, Run, netsh winsoc reset

Wait for a prompt to restart your computer. Restart your computer.

For all other versions of Windows:
Download and run WinsockFix:

Download Winsock fix? How about looking at dhcp? Like saw164 said, we need more info. Do a chkdsk while you're at it!!!
