Neophyte access user trying to build database for small business.... In my Clients table I have a City field which is a Combo box. I would like to say "no" to the "Limit to List" property, but when I click "NO" for this property, I get a message that my column width is not equal to the bound column, and that I should change my column width for the bound column then set the Limit to List property to NO. Currently the column width property field says the following: 0";1.3855". This is where I get stuck and I don't know what to do to change the column width accurately. I tried the access help, but I didn't understand it. Any ideas? Thanx Robin

Nor do I Robin, the Limit to List parameter shouldn't care about the width of the columns.

How many BOUND columns do you have ?

If BoundColumns = 1 then there is your problem.

As a path to a solution :-
delete the contants of the ColumnWidths paramter,
save the form design,
open it again and set the Limit to list,
then try reinstating the column widths.

This is a cheap way around the problem, but I agree, there is no reason why access should not allow this. I experienced the same problem. Just set the column width property to .01", 1.3855". This will make the first column so small that the user cannot access or see it.
