limit detail to display 6 rows like(1,2,3...) in the report

I am trying to limit detail to display 6 rows like(1,2,3--) in my report. But if the database field is less than 6, say only 2 or 4 row with in the report.I tried in every way, but still have not figure out how to accomplish.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

You can suppress the detail section with:

recordnumber > 6

You need a left join from the table that your "line" column is coming from to the table that your "loan_number" column is coming from, with no selections on the table containing the loan_number field.
