On my R6, I'm trying to set up my 34D (soon to be with the Call-Assistant add-on) so that the lights will indicate when each user is on the phone. I already know about the Auto-Dial... the lights goes red if a person goes on a call or checks voicemail.

Problem with Auto-Dial is that the light is also triggered by Do Not Disturb; since each user put their phone on do-not-disturb when they are not there, those lights get mistaken for active calls. Not to mention the fact that when everyone is gone, the lights are all lit up, when in practicality I would like them all be to be out. (My purpose for seeing the lights is just to know the users are on the phone or checking voicemail... not so that I can transfer calls to them.)

So, is there some trick-way to have the lights tell if a user is on the phone/voicemail, that will not light up when they put on do-not-disturb?

Thanks,
Bryan

Hi Bryan,
TTT is correct, the lights only indicate busy status. DND makes the phone appear busy to the system. This is one of those "can't have it both ways" situations.

Then, is there some other option for allowing users to turn off their ringers? Maybe some other "privacy" or "locked" funcion that will stop the phone from ringing, while at the same time not light up the auto-dial lights?

Well, you could go into programming and set the lines to No ring.

This won't stop the intercom from ringing. I guess they have to turn the volume way down. Maybe place a small pillow on top too? ;-)
Sorry, it's not the answer you wanted.

I am not sure about call forwarding inside the system on the Partner. But, if you can. set it to forward to an invalid extension after 0 rings. That should do it.

if you really had to do it you could run the speaker wires thu a trnasfer switch stuck to the side of the phone

switch tword the phone ...phone rings
switch away from the phone....no ring

crude but it would work
