Is there any way to light the main MWI on a phone with a different mbox #? For example if x2000 has a mbox 3000, is there a way to tell the system to light the MWI of x2000 when a msg is left in mbox 3000? This is all on MCD 5.0 with EMEM and 5330 IP Phones. I know we can place a MWI button on that phone for that mbox but if there's a way to circumvent that I'd like to know.

Thanks!

This is a very strange request but believe it or not I might actually have a solution.

First - applying the KISS principle
- You can program the associated extension for Mbx 3000 as 2000. - Done.

Second - assuming that you cannot simply associate the mailbox directly for reasons not stated.
- MBX 3000 needs to be associated with a Huntgroup 3000
- Huntgroup 3000 needs to have Ext 2000 as it's first member

Thanks.

This is to be able to have the main MWI of several phones light up when a msg is left on another mbox with no one extension associated. The users would like to easily see a msg left in that box without just having a button blink.

So in this case looks like it's not possible for multiple phones, only one...

Main lamp can only be associate with the prime. 1 per phone.

Having it associated with a key is so much simpler I can't imagine a reason to want anything else.

It's just a visibility issue for them They are constantly walking around in a confined area and need to see from a distance (i.e. with the phone not facing them) that there's a message, but in several key locations.

Message Notification via outdial?

Vmail to Email ?

There is more than 1 way to let people know there is a message.

I've suggested that and it's something they'll consider, but a few of those people don't carry around their cell phones (the horror! lol).

I was thinking more along the lines of an internal ring group notification.

Whan every phone starts ringing at the same time and the display says - Voicemail Message! - they are sure to take the hint.

OIC missed that part sorry. Yes, I also suggested that and they balked. They don't want to necessarily tend to it right there and then, but they do want to have the notification immediately... in other words they are antsy but lazy haha.

You can't fix stupid, sorry for your pain.

Tell them to buy a Nupoint.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Will the nupoint really light more than one extension per mailbox?

install an analog extension to everyones desk....install the Viking VR-1A instead of phone...make the analog extension/VR-1A the voicemail boxes extension....when a message is left it will light the Viking VR-1A...then they will login as remote voicemail user and check the analog extension...clear light

The Nupoint could do this in quite a number of ways.

I would probably use Broadcast Message Waiting to set all the lamps via a distribution list.

The issue I have with doing this is that the users have no idea whether the lamp is for their personal VM or for the Group VM. I seems to me that this solution would waste more time than it is worth.

The Suggestion of using an external lamp is valid.

As kwbMitel says the Nupoint can easily do this. The broadcast message waiting is the way to go.

Thanks for all the suggestions, very helpful.

I wish I could go back and sell them a NuPoint. This was one of those post install requests. I like the idea of an external light associated with an analog set. This will keep this general box notification separate from their own personal ones.

I think the external lamp is the way to go as well.
