License question 8.1 vs 9.0 1

I was told by my sales rep that I cannot add 9.0 end point licenses to a 8.1 system which were already ordered. She's going to get back to me tomorrow. Another tech I know says no problems with it and end point is an end point. Which is right?

My opinion is that an R9 IP endpoint license will not work in a 8.1 system.

These will work in an 8.1 system:
229444
229445
229447

These will not work in an 8.1 system:
275618
275619
275620

But all the above partcodes will work in a 9.x system.

IP Endpoint Licenses are the same and only have another name and other part number.

I don't know it for other licenses. Could work or could not work...

Yep, we're tossing the dice. This is one of those last minute jobs. They are moving into a new facility on Monday so naturally buy the phone stuff the Thursday before. Then complain about the cost of overnight shipping.

OK, I was almost sure that R9 licenses did not work on older SW´s. But maybe that was older SW´s then 8.1 ?

Avaya only changed the part number/description to A) Charge more for the licences and B) Track the amount of licences sold to R9+ systems, the licences generated are the same as they always have been
