We have an IP Office 500 V2 with Release 9 software.
It was used for demo purpose.
To test IPOCC we inserted a new Release 9.1 SD card, but when we installed the essential edition license the system is showing error.
"Release license is required"
How can we solve this?
I believe the Release 9 version is written to IPO memory that might be causing the error, but since we have a brand new SD there should be some way to solve this?

The IP500 V2 has run Release 9.0 - it is therefore now a Release 9.0 system and needs an upgrade license if you want it to run Release 9.1.

Either get a new IP500 V2 box on which to run 9.1 or get the upgrade license.

Full Stop. Period. That's all folks.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Just like sizbut said. Everything is tied to the SD card EXCEPT the first version you make a call on the control unit "locks" that control unit onto that version. You have a 9.0 control unit and would need an upgrade license to go to 9.1. Avaya probably has a way to unlock control units but they aren't giving away that secret ever(with good reason it would lose them money). As far as I know no one else can get around this. You are stuck on 9.0 or forced to get an upgrade license.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

A new box + SD card isn't too different from the upgrade licence (large or small) so it may be worth doing some sums ...

You can always downgrade as long as you have a valid license. If you have an Essential Edition license for 9.0 and it is valid on9.0 then any firmware release below 9.0 will work however, in order to go higher, you need an upgrade license.

Thanks all for the valuable piece of information.
I will go for the upgrade license.
