I have a copy of Visual Studio.NET Standard installed on my PC at work. I am going away in a few days for a training course and would like to install a copy on my laptop for use while I'm away. The license agreement says the following...

1.1 Microsoft Grants to you as an individual, a personal, nonexclusive license to use the software, and to make and use copies ..... provided that you are the only individual using the software.

Does this mean that since no-one else will have access to my PC while I'm away I can legally install a second copy onto my laptop? My interpretation is that this is okay as long as no-one else will be using the software on the other PC at the same time as myself.

It seems a little annoying to have to un-install it from a PC that will be turned off just to comply with the license.

Any Suggestions?

Ideally I'd like to email Microsoft but not really sure of a suitable email address to send the question to!

Cheers,

Steve Gordon

Yes - it appears to be a "named user" license, which means that you can install it on any number of machines, as long as you're the only one using it.

That's good news. It would seem pointless to go through the routine of uninstalling each time, but then again it could be seen as the 'Microsoft' way.

Thanks for your advice.

I think you are probably keeping with the "spirit" of the license anyways, even if not the letter.
