Hello,

Context is: Networker 6.1.3 / Windows 2K SP4 / SAN / L700
Symptom : Library not responding (sometimes); mount/unmout failed since upgrading from NT4
Error message (eventlog) :
"The device \Device\Scsi\CPQKGPSA1 is not ready for access yet"
I changed the fiber card and the switch port: same problem.
I increased the "load sleep/unload sleep" form 5 to 15: same problem;

Any suggestions?

Make sure that you disabled the Removable Storage Manager service !!!!

set the load / unload sleep to 30 sec.
deposit and withdraw timeout to 15 sec.

Thanks for your help, 605 and cyberted;

The "Removable Storage Manager" service (is it svchost.exe ? please confirm) is disabled;
I increased the "Load/Unload sleep" to 30 sec.
but the repeating message is:
"The device \Device\Scsi\CPQKGPSA1 did not respond within the timeout period"

If I reset the L700 Library, then the problem is temporarily solved, but it comes back...

SVCHOST is the correct binary.

The devicename is strange. What does INQUIRE report ?

IS the library (roboter - not the tapes) conneted to the SAN?

Try to connect the library (only the roboter) over scsii?

The Library is connected thru a SAN ( @7.3.0)
The robotic is full fiber.
This configuration worked fine with NT4...
Could it be a driver problem?

Are you able to use the devices via "mt"? Did you try with sjimm loading and unloading tapes?

Thanks for your suggestions;

I upgraded the firmware and driver to latest version, but the problem is still alive.

I can manually load tapes, but sometimes the unloading is unsuccessfull (time-out).
SAN people says I have to separate disk and tapes; is it the only solution?

Why did it worked with NT4, but not with W2K?

Setup the disks on the first HBA and the devices at the second.

If you want to know why it worked with NT4 and why not with W2K, simply ask Billy. *gg*
